Joomla!

We use Joomla as an AMS system. The good news is it's free and highly customizable. The bad news is, it can be quite costly to pay someone to customize it for you. Also it is community-supported, so there's no hotline you can call! We use it for member data, we track participation/ purchases (although do not have any money in it- crazy I know!) and 2 pretty robust member directories. Its fine for a free website, but for an AMS I definitely do not recommend.

Switching from a Windows-based environment to Macs was supposed to be nearly seemless ... and it nearly was, except in transferring a 10,000 record database that includes both active and inactive members and their staff. Our web designers assured us the a Joomla plug-in Community Builder was the answer for moving our Access database to the Cloud, integrate the database with our website and training options. Is it Community Builder or our webdesigners? All I know is that a 2007 Access database that we can only use in emulation mode is no longer our solution and Joomla plug-in are not working for us.
