Membee is a very basic AMS that is a good starting point for a small association. When we were searching for our first AMS a few years ago, we had a limited budget, a small membership base and a very small staff. It has given us the basic membership management functionality that we needed at the time. However, our membership and programs have grown significantly since we started using Membee, and we have found that it no longer meets our current needs.

My role is controller and I am new to my position. We use Membee as our AMS. I have worked at other membership associations and have used a number of AMS programs. My organization has developed a number of "work-arounds" to get what we need. Membee doesn't integrated with any accounting packages such as QuickBooks or GreatPlains. Members can go to our website which is linked to Membee and pay for events. The invoice is created and paid off in Membee (which is good). However, the credit card charge is sent to me by Authorize.net and has to be manually process to get the information into our accounting system (which is bad). This process requires a lot of time and manual keying. Reporting can be difficult. Since getting a quick and easy membership report is difficult, we key our membership information manually into a excel file. When members come on or drop off we update the excel file manually (which is bad). Membee does a good job with event registrations, event invoicing and event reporting. Members can sign up and pay for events through our website and they can pay with a credit card immediately or they can asked to be billed. We conduct a lot of paid events during the year so Membee plays a critical role in our daily activity. As such, it needs to be able to provide more automated acccouting processes. When talking with Membee tell me they are able to do all the accounting procedures within Membee which should eliminate the need to use a third party accounting software package. My company has used a separate accounting package from day 1. I don't know enough about Membee's accounting tools to determine if we could eliminate our accounting software.

Our association switched to Membee a year ago and their system is so much better than our last AMS. I love how Membee easily manages "parent/child" relationships, addresses (do not need to type the same address in more than once), membership billing and meeting management. It's great to see a total of how much money a member has paid to our association and for what. Very beneficial if a member is thinking of not renewing. Some features in Membee can be technical, however there are plenty of tutorials on their website (it can be a bit cumbersome at times to find an answer). If you need assistance, their online chat is very responsive. You can talk to support too, but it can take a day for a response unless it's urgent. I reviewed several AMS solutions before deciding on Membee. You can't beat the functionality for the price. If it I had it to do over again, I would still choose Membee.

Terribly out of date and unusable backend, stay away. Don't be lured in by cheap monthly fees, you will pay in time spent trouble-shooting and dealing with CS!

The price is right. But the interface is not very intuitive. Some functions don't work with Internet Explorer and simple functions like adding new members to the directory or exporting your membership data are multiple steps. I develop a lot of my own documentation to remember the steps. There is a lot of documentation online, a little over whelming. If your budget is tight and you have some technical skills, it will work for you.
