I started in the association space in 2008. I was hired in part to immediately take over an AMS implementation project of Personify for that association. Since then, I have worked for a software vendor before returning to my current association as an IT Director. Novi is my 4th AMS to work with, and by far, it's been the most positive experience to date with any AMS. Novi's customer support has also far exceeded any previous AMS, and they have provided some of the best customer support of any technology vendor that I have worked with in my 40 year IT career.

They are thorough, knowledgeable, and quick to assist with any questions or concerns. Novi has been incredibly user friendly and intuitive all around; both on the back-end for our association staff, and on the front-end for our customers. We love the integration with QuickBooks to automate our dues and subscription billing, and our customers love that they can see all of their company's open invoices in one place in their Member Compass. Novi is the best AMS I've worked with after 10 years with my organization. They're quick to respond to questions through a helpful chat feature and they are always making updates and improvements. They offer ample opportunity to provide feedback. It easily handles all my daily tasks. The 4/5 for customization is only that your organization might have unique needs and will have to wait for an update to have a way to address those. For example, we originally did not have an efficient way to bill dues to our members so we used a workaround. After a while, Novi made an update and now it works great!

We transitioned to Novi AMS in May 2020. This was of course not the best time to be making a full AMS change, but I am still beyond happy to we did it. We did an extensive search for a new AMS, including hiring a consultant to assist us in our research. I am fairly certain we looked at every single mid-level AMS that was in the market at the time. We felt comfortable with Novi during the sales process, and we received what we were promised (which is often not the case during these kinds of projects). The AMS interface is intuitive. We're happy with most of the modules, particularly the member and accounting areas. The integration with QBO has absolutely saved bookkeeping time. We've been able to connect Novi to several third-party products through their API which have all enhanced our members' experience.

But in the end, what sold us was their customer service. I have never felt like a number with Novi. They truly listen to our feedback and ideas and have implemented many of the modifications we have asked for. They host regular member roundtables on a variety of topics, all of which helps to better understand the AMS while also learning from other Novi users. Novi has grown quite a bit since we contracted with them 3.5 years ago, but I still feel like they care about us and our experience. I would 100% recommend Novi to an association looking for a solid AMS with an even better customer service experience. The team at Novi is truly fantastic.

Switching to NoviAMS has been a great experience for us. Mostly we did the change because we needed to be able to handle the relationships between individuals and companies better than we could in YourMembership. But we got so many other benefits. The support team is amazing - and responses are incredibly fast. There is a constant stream of new features that are making it meet our needs even better - they really listen to feedback and act on it fast. The close integration with Quickbooks has eliminated a huge amount of work during the audit. The Novi financial records and the Quickbooks records are the same - there is no gap between the programs where errors can creep in.

We do a lot of external integrations - and the API is extremely straightforward, fast and reliable. That has excellent support too, although we rarely need it.

I'm struggling to think of a downside.  I scored it lower on customization - but we don't need much customization, the base product already meets our needs, and there are enough custom field options to keep us happy. 

We feel proud to be part of Novi's user group. We love the team, we love their approach, and we feel that in choosing Novi we made a great decision that enhances our ability to serve our members and work efficiently.

I can't recommend NOVI AMS enough.  We went from another provider that was unwilling to help us with our issues.  
When we onboarded with NOVI, I felt that Lea, became part of our staff and got a crash course in New Jersey and 
she was working with us on a daily basis.  During our first year, we have had issues, as with all software.  The support
isn't instant, but usually within 1-2 hours.  When we had a major issue with our email deliveries, I scheduled a call and 
met with the CEO and head of development.  They spent a lot of time with us and found our issue.  Once corrected,
I thought that would be it, But the CEO contacted me back to show way software improvements they are making so 
this wouldn't happen to us again, and the rest of their clients.  The personal attention is amazing.  The software is 
constantly being upgraded.  Yes, it is more money than some of the other providers.  But you get what you pay for
and with NOVI, you definitely get what you pay for!

NOVI is easy to use, has the best customer service out there, and is vital to the success of our association.

Our industry is full of non-tech-savvy people, from our employees to our membership. NOVI takes some incredibly complicated software and caters it to everyone. All we have to do is get our members our employees to spend a few minutes on the site and it turns into a serious tool for them to use!

One of the biggest things these guys have going for them is their customer service. It's easy to care when a sale is on the line, but these guys extend that far beyond what I thought was possible. They value you as a customer and are willing to help you with whatever questions you may have, even the trivial ones. Anytime I've had a question, they've been there to help me out and we've been with them for over 5 years!

Our association relies heavily on the ability to create different membership, create and track trainings, and supply vital information. NOVI AMS handles all of these things easily. 

We were hesitant at first based on the cost, there are other options out there that are a bit cheaper. When we bit the bullet and signed up, we haven't looked back. Jump in and try NOVI out, you wont regret it!

I found NOVI based on other association management reviews and after a false start with another system. The onboarding was excellent and our launch was thorough and accurate. We are a hybrid professional organization with a mix of individual and corporate members.  We went live with Novi in Dec 2021. 

1. AMS selection process: exceptional.  Pete and his team were exceptionally open, transparent, patient, and diligent when answering our questions, providing us with demos, and ensuring that we had an accurate grasp of Novi's capabilities during our AMS selection process.  Our selection process narrowed down to 4 finalists and Novi was a late and uncertain entry but ended up finishing at the top of the pack with a significant advantage.

2. AMS implementation and onboarding: Fantastic.  Novi managed the entire project via Asana and our team became part of that Asana project with all milestones, deadlines and deliverables clearly marked.  Novi's team stayed on task and on time and our implementation slipped by only 2 weeks from an original estimate of 3 months.  The slippage was mostly on us and due to Thanksgiving holidays falling near the end and our staff taking time off.  Exellent project management and leadership from Novi's team.

3. Early support: Naturally shortly after the implementation there is a lot of need for hand-holding.  Novi's team excels at that.  Novi's documentation and online help are excellent and more often than not we were able to self service.

4. Life on Novi: it won't come to surprise to anyone that there will be things you can't accomplish on any system the way you want to accomplish them.  With that being said Novi's team was great at helping us find alternative solutions or we were able to adjust to the system limitations without much sacrifice in operational effectiveness. 

5. Big things we love:

  • Novi integrates with Zapier that opened up a world of integrations with other systems like Docusign, MailChimp, Cvent, Webinars, Office 365, and even automating processes inside Novi via Zapier.
  • Novi's modern and open APIs that make it easy to integrate with other systems like HigherLogic, AssociationAnalytics, our third party Jobs Board and Career Center, and Vendor Directory system.
  • Novi's deep integration with QuickBooks Online that completely eliminates the need to integrate with an accounting system, because Novi and QBO function as a cohesive system.

6. If I could make a prediction, I would not be surprised if NoviAMS spread like wildfire across small to medium associations (especially the ones on QBO) in the near future.  This prospect scares me a little, because an explosive growth has scalability implications for any business who wants to consistently deliver high level of service.  I would urge Novi team to very carefully select their future clients to ensure a strong alignment between customer needs and the system capabilities so they do not pull Novi's team and product development roadmap into too many directions all at once.

We are a 501-c-6 with around 425 members and 6,000 records. Novi is our third AMS in seven years; we outgrew the first and the second was basically a terrible experience. So when we read the reviews on this platform about how wonderful Novi is, we were a bit skeptical. We'd "been there, done that" and felt pretty realistic about what we could expect from an AMS system. As the ED I was particularly cautious as having to sell my Board on yet another AMS switch was not something I relished. We have now been with Novi for about a year and we are highly satisfied. In fact, our database manager jokingly says, "If Novi were a person, I'd marry it." Here are the things that have been the most beneficial to us:

  • The team is really patient during the purchase process. They tell you the truth, and they don't disappear after you sign.
  • Onboarding is simple. They handle a lot of it and help you problem-solve in real time. They don't leave you to your own devices or let you import garbage and then later throw up their hands because "it's a data problem." They help you get it right in the beginning.
  • The front end of the website is impressive. We get compliments on it all the time.
  • The entire platform (website, member portal, database) is intuitive and easy to use. The website in particular is truly WYSIWYG, and very stable, so that a non-designer/non-coder can easily update and maintain it.
  • Reports are easy to build and access.
  • When the occasional bug occurs (we've had maybe 2-3 in a year) the Novi team owns it and gets it fixed pretty much immediately. No more "it's a known issue" and then no progress for months, which is what we used to experience with other AMSs.
  • Novi is always working on improvements and they actually do take feedback seriously. Importantly, when they roll out an update it generally does not make mysterious things happen to your website or data, which is something that was routine on our prior platforms.
  • THEY ARE RESPONSIVE! If you have a problem, open a ticket, need to ask a question, etc, real human beings—that you might actually know—will help you solve the issue, often within a very short time frame. And, amazingly enough, they continue to do this after you are out of the sales/onboarding phase. They apparently treat all their customers as "kind of a big deal."

When we were shopping for the system and chose Novi, I somewhat wondered if the reviews on "Review My AMS" were paid, or maybe the owners' moms had written them because they were so gushing. But after 35 years in nonprofit management, this is hands-down the best software and best team I've ever worked with. So here I am, gushing also. And I am nobody's mom.

When we were shopping for the system and chose Novi, I somewhat wondered if the reviews on "Review My AMS" were paid, or maybe the owners' moms had written them because they were so gushing. But after 35 years in nonprofit management, this is hands-down the best software and best team I've ever worked with. So here I am, gushing also. And I am nobody's mom.
