We’ve been using MatrixMaxx as our AMS at ALDA for over two years, and it’s been a fantastic fit for our needs and a substantial improvement over our previous set-up. We recently integrated our AMS with a Learning Management System.  MatrixMaxx worked well with both us and the LMS folks, not an easy task.  The project was completed on time and done well.  Glitches were fixed rapidly and MM was always available  to work directly with us and our LMS vendor to resolve problems and answer questions.  I would be happy to work with them again and recommend them to others.

As the president of a small association, my staff wears many hats and we rely heavily on vendors to support and supplement our efforts.  We have been long time clients of The Matrix Group, utilize MatrixMaxx for our AMS needs, and also worked with Matrix and their BeSpeake platform to host a successful virtual annual meeting this year.  Before implementing MatrixMaxx, we relied primarily on email distribution lists and Excel spreadsheets to manage membership distribution lists and contacts.  Our lists were frequently out of date, and limitations on the number of individuals we could email at one time resulted in us sending duplicative emails to member representatives.  MatrixMaxx was just what we needed to manage member communications.  We are also able to seamlessly use it for registration for our annual meeting.  We may be small, but Matrix never makes us feel that way!  Highly recommend their services.  

We wanted an AMS that was easy for all staff to use and did not require significant upgrade costs every three to five years.  The AMS is updated four times a year at no extra cost, and you are provided a full year of support during your first year.  A complete API integrates with your CMS, and we have taken advantage of that integration to provide custom member service solutions.  The vendor offers an opportunity for all clients to provide feedback on future updates.  Free Q&A sessions are available every month, allowing both veteran staff and new users to ask questions about the product.  Entering our third year, we are happy with the value and future of the platform moving forward.  Client satisfaction is a priority.  When in-person meetings were not possible, they stepped in almost immediately and provided a virtual meeting solution. 

I originally wrote a review back in 2018 for Matrix Maxx (you can see it in archived) but the recent negative review has prompted me to write another.

All I can say is, based on the terseness of the response, is clearly expectations have not matched with reality. Given the claims made in the review, it's hard to imagine that the reviewer has much actual experience with this product or company, so I want to address each claim individually.

"All updates/customizations are $1,000s, if they can even do it at all." This is fairly demonstrably false. The Maxx platform is updated every quarter with new features/fixes, and we have MANY customizations in place that Matrix have built for us. Some customizations were complex, and were more expensive—others have been simple and cost nothing. Go figure, the cost of a project directly correlates with the amount of time needed to complete it.

"Ugly and clunky user interface." Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose. But I haven't found this to be the case.

"Communications function doesn't even function as a modern email platform should." Maxx is an AMS, not an email marketing platform (again, expectations, reality, etc). Maxx has a perfectly functional listserve function and integrates seamlessly with both Mailchimp and Campaign Monitor (the latter an integration built for us at our request). 

I hope this addresses adequately any concerns raised by the other review. The main reason we work with Matrix is because of the people and relationships. There is NO company with better customer service than Matrix. Please don't let one bad review rob you of the opportunity to work with a company like Matrix Group. We have worked with Matrix for close to two decades and have no plans to change that.

We've used MatrixMaxx for almost 20 years, and have been extremely happy with it.  The system is very instinctive and easy to learn and we are set up so our back end database also links to our website.  I really like the fact that Matrix maintains a constant upgrade path for their base product, while still allowing us the freedom to customize to our needs.  I feel like Matrix is a partner for our company, not just another vendor.  I would strongly recommend MatrixMaxx as your new AMS!  

While our company has used MatrixMaxx for nearly 20 years, I started working with them more closely in April of 2020 when in-person meetings transitioned to virtual events.  We entrusted them with providing a virtual meeting platform for several of our events and they did not disappoint.  Over the last 19 months, their platform, BeSpeake, has hosted nearly 3000 private meetings with C-Suite Executives and delivered flawlessly on the commitment that was made from the onset.  We asked for a secure, easy to navigate and user-friendly platform - they provided that and so much more!  The entire team worked tirelessly and their efforts were seen by many.  Several of our members have even called BeSpeake best in class.  I highly recommend MatrixMaxx!

We have worked with Matrix for over 15 years.  Throughout the entire process, they have taken the time to learn about not only our database needs, but to also learn about our organization's culture.  They know all our key users and decision makers.  One of my favorite things about their product, MatrixMaxx, is the way they constantly upgrade the core product and don't leave any clients behind.  In almost every quarterly release will be something standard for every customer, as well as any customizations that have been fully tested.  And all the personalized training, as well as their online help guide, makes using the product very easy.  The MatrixMaxx database is very instinctive for new users, simply follow the workflow and fill in the blanks.  Overall, an excellent product offered by an amazing support team.

It’ll almost be a year since we’ve made the switch to MatrixMaxx and we are extremely happy that we did. The interface is intuitive and user-friendly, and we love that everything’s web based and we’re no longer tied to a desktop application. A lot of functionality comes standard out of the box, and there’s the ability to customize certain elements further to a certain extent. Their modules are much better than our previous AMS, and we even have a couple additional ones that we’ve never had before (e.g. online store). Reporting is good, but hope they will add more features in future to help streamline our process even more. Upgrades occur every quarter and they’re automatically pushed to all clients. Overall, the Matrix team is a great group to partner with that will listen to your feedback and will do their best to help address your needs.

Matrix Group International (the company behind MatrixMaxx) have been a critical part of our association's successes for close to two decades. Matrix Group are responsive, reliable, and, not insignificantly, a great group of people. While MatrixMaxx is powerful in of itself, the AMS seamlessly integrates with a number of key third party tools, including MailChimp, WordPress, SharpSpring, and Sitefinity. Matrix Group are constantly upgrading the Maxx platform, with new features being added almost every quarter. They stay appraised of current industry trends and needs, and have been incredibly diligent in their rollout of GDPR-compliant measures (though thankfully this hasn't affected our association too much!).

One earlier review refers to a lack of customization. Though I can see a validity to the argument from the standpoint of not being able to do the work yourself, Matrix have built us a number of customized features and upgrades, tailored specifically for our association's needs. I think for the vast majority of people, this is a preferable scenario. The main positive to this approach is that when upgrades are made to the system, those upgrades are made for everybody (unless they have elected for a custom version of that particular feature, of course). This results in Matrix Group reacting to the needs of the industry—of which their large client base is representative—as a whole, which benefits everybody.

It should also be noted that Matrix Group are skilled web designers, recently winning a 2017 Website of the Year Award from Sitefinity (a CMS platform). The integration between a powerful database, a choice of content management systems, a number of additional marketing tools, and a highly competent staff, makes MatrixMaxx an excellent choice for any association.

When rviewing possible companies to redesign our website and handle our AMS, MatrixxMaxx stood out.   It has been 2 1/2 years since we went with MatrixxMaxx, and it has been great.  The transition was smooth.  Matrix Group is available for questions and assistance and are also helping us to improve how we market to our customers.  Truly a full service company! 

We've been working with Matrix Group for a few years now and are so pleased with both the product and customer service.  The tool has far greater capabilities than our previous tool, and the team is very responsive and supportive of our overall objectives.  I appreciate the frequent webinars and upgrades to their tool as they listen to their customer's feedback. Matrix Maxx has been a wonderful experience after our last AMS. Matrix is easy to work with and are VERY RESPONSIVE to questions, concerns and possible enhancements.

During my 24 year tenure with my previous association, I had the pleasure of working with the CEO of Matrix International Group, Joanna Pineda and developer of MatrixMaxx for roughly 15 of those 24 years. Initially, Matrix International was the association's web site developer and host, but eventually they came to our association expressing an interest in creating a web based AMS. With all things moving toward web based applications, it only made sense for Matrix to pursue this area of operation. Our group had unfortunately gone through two unsuccessful moves to off the shelf AMS systems that were not web based, so we were all ears. As the project manager and the one tasked with finding a new web based AMS, I was directed by our board to not simply move ahead with Matrix without exploring all options. So the association hired an independent IT consulting firm to review the pluses and minuses of the half-dozen systems under consideration and to come up with a formal recommendation in terms of how the association should move forward. The independent consultant's final conclusion was that MatrixMaxx was the best system for our needs and would come in under our initial budget projections. When it came time to begin the process of implementing MatrixMaxx, we established a realistic timeline and Matrix was able to make it all happen as promised. The staff at Matrix really did their homework and listened to staff to make sure the change to the web based system went as seamless as possible. Like any data conversion and new system implementation there were small bumps in the road, but as project manager I found that Matrix handled those issues directly and never dodged a question or a call no matter the time of day and made sure we were satisfied as the implementation progressed. Working with their clients, Matrix created a system which truly addresses the weaknesses of the off the shelf AMS systems, with a web based platform which ties the activities taking place on the organization's web site with a backend web based AMS. Now membership application processing, dues processing, e-commerce, listservs, member profiles, dues history, volunteer rosters, national and chapter meeting management, etc., are all easily updated and maintained through MatrixMaxx. The team at Matrix is always willing to work with their clients on new product enhancements and since they listen closely to their customers they're able to deliver unique solutions that eventually become integrated into a future version of MatrixMaxx. Matrix backs this up with regular customer education webinars where they introduce new features of the system along with helpful tips to maximize MatrixMaxx to be more productive and profitable (not sure if we're supposed to say "profitable" in the non-profit world but I just did!). Another value add to working with Matrix is that they're proactive and monitor all the latest web based solutions. So, if they find something out there that will help you be more effective as an organization they'll send a detailed email or pick up the phone to share what they've learned. MatrixMaxx is truly an AMS that works for all size associations and non-profits. If you want a partner you can really depend on and not just another vendor, then look no further than the team at Matrix Group International. Their commitment to the customer and doing things the right way is part of the company's culture, which you'll experience firsthand when you become a Matrix client. There are all sorts of systems to choose from, but making the right selection should be based on more than just a good sales pitch; check with users of those systems and find out what sort of support, service and on-going education do they provide. I wish you well on your search for a new AMS, please take my advice and give serious consideration to MatrixMaxx.

Matrix really is not very customizable, and too many items require them to do the work rather than us. They are good and honest people and respond well, but I can't help feeling there must be better things out there.

We are very happy with our new MatrixMax system. The team was very supportive during the implementation, and the tool is very comprehensive in serving our needs.

My organization began using MatrixMAXX more than 10 years ago. Since that time we have added nearly all of the available modules and fully integrated it with all of our systems (accounting, CMS, etc.). What I like most about MatrixMAXX is that the modules have many options "off-the-shelf" which makes it affordable for a budget, but you can also fully customize it and it won't break the bank. For a medium-sized trade association it is like having your cake and eating it too! Matrix is super-responsive and great to work with, and they have taken the time to learn our business inside and out. They are always working to add new features to the basic system and they will always take on a new technical challenge - and meet or exceed our expectations. With our previous AMS we were always being told it couldn't do what we wanted to do (we live by exception) but Matrix always has a range of solutions to offer us which allows us to balance time, cost and functionality based on how important a particular item is to us. I highly recommend MatrixMAXX.

The MatrixMaxx AMS system is one of the best I've ever seen or worked with. Every new staff person I've trained is surprised at how quickly they learn to use it, and how easy it is. It does a great job of giving us one central place to track all of our interactions with all of our customers. And Matrix is always improving their core product and adding more functionality. I refer to Matrix as not just a vendor, but as our partner. They are quick to respond to any request to changes or bug fixes. And they will even tell us when they think our latest idea may come back to hurt us in the long run. Great database, and amazing company to work with!
