We've been an iMIS client since long before my time at our organization. Having worked with other associations, as well as at an AMC, I was familiar with the basics of iMIS was starting with our group but sometimes feel confused. Sometimes our small staff struggles with not knowing what we don't know and having a hard time finding someone to proactively tell us (and when we are reactively told, it's oftentimes too late or no longer needed). We went through a PAINFUL upgrade from iMIS 10 to iMIS 15 about two years ago. What was schedule to take six months ended up taking a year and a half. In the process, we also switched our web content management system from our old provider to the iMIS WCM (which as iMIS 20 is now called RiSE from what I've been told.) We're mostly pleased with the backend database side of our iMIS configuration. The front-end needs some work (we've been told all our problems will be solved, we just have to upgrade to iMIS 20.) We do have some issues with being able to customize some registration categories for our meetings. Right now, anyone not paying full price cannot register for our conference (which includes all exhibitors, board members, etc.) It's slightly frustrating. Overall, we're not completely unhappy with our AMS, but often get very frustrated with the lack of flexibility and customization we can do without being told we need to upgrade. Especially when there appear to be alternatives out there that put you on an upgrade path at purchase.

iMis is a robust AMS that provides a great deal of configurations; however, it requires significant knowledge and technical expertise to create reports and manage data.

I was a pass-through user (running a component chapter of a state society) and therefore was not able to use all of the features of iMIS, but I will say that it was a very easy way for us all to be in one place. With alerts and the ability to assign tasks to one person, she was able to see every time we changed a cell number, etc. The internal communities we developed through iMIS were user-friendly as well. I am not good at high-tech, and endlessly needed help on reports, but that was a user problem, not indicative of the software!

Using iMIS20.1.1.4 for about 1 yr. Started in 1999 with version 4.29. Our upgrades have been uneventful with proper planning and testing. It's important to have user testing and feedback. Of course not everything is 100% but for the most part it works for us. We do have some customization. Our solution provider is awesome which is important to any organization.

iMIS 10.6 wasn't a bad choice in 2002, but ASI hasn't lived up to their promise to a total .NET platform. This was supposed to be the goal in 15.X. Our biggest issue with iMIS is its one-to-one relationship. We have many members that belong to many organizations and iMIS doesn't address that natively. Many AMS/CRM address not only one-to-many, but many-to-many relationships right out of the box. Depending on your needs iMIS isn't a bad choice, but I think many of the other vendors have caught up and a few have surpassed ASI. I would also add we had great reseller's in NimbleUser and CSystems.

We have been using iMIS for our association since 1995 and are currently reviewing the potential to upgrade to iMIS 20 from 15. During our history with iMIS it has functioned adequately for everything we have asked of it. I feel there are some limitations with customizing and reporting at some of the levels we would like. We have learned to be more creative with iMIS over the years and have found ways to make things "work" for our needs. The core functionality of iMIS is great and works as expected but if you get nitpicky you can find another solution that can handle each area of iMIS functionality with more grace and can conform more to your own needs. As an all encompassing tool however, iMIS works well for us.

We initially adopted the iMis platform years ago (1999). This last year we upgraded to iMis 20 and have had good experiences so far. The built-in iMis ecommerce for dues seems to work fairly well. We have had to tweak it a bit in the last couple of months to make it work with our own processes, but we typically get very good service from our iMis reseller to make it work like it needs to. It has some features we haven't tapped into yet (like the creation of microsites for events and so forth) but I do hope to be able to try this out sometime soon. The integration of iMis with some other solution providers is not without a little work -- but it always does work. We also use Higher Logic, Peach New Media, and Informz. I love the Informz/iMis integration; it's really helped us out. As with any AMS, you've got to amend your business practices to what makes sense between your operation and the AMS, and if you do things will work more smoothly. Don't try to make too many customizations -- but I think that's true no matter what system in what context you're operating.

We moved to iMIS 15 in July, 2007. At that time we looked at several solutions. In fact, here is a video that walks through our selection process, why we chose iMIS and how we successfully integrated our custom code/modules to work within the iMIS framework: http://files.second.org/data/website%20files/IT/sbcchms.html. Over 7 years later, we are still using iMIS. We are currently on iMIS 15.1.2.6042. Due to a variety reasons apart from the product, we have not yet moved to iMIS 20 which is our goal in the next year. We have iMIS 20 running in a dev environment and everything we see is fantastic! We can't wait to make the move. Throughout all of this time, we have had an exceptional relationship with ASI. Their customer support is responsive. We have had several face to face meetings with their Product Manager, development team, and executives. ASI cares about their clients. One of the reasons why we chose and continue to stay with iMIS is their commitment to "Partners for Life." This is true relationally and technically. With every upgrade and update, they preserved our upgrade path and all of our custom code continued to work with their API. Every few years, we reevaluate our choice of solutions and we continue to choose iMIS. It is a great product developed and maintain by great people

This system has the capability to support your business into the future. Understanding the data requirements and the support you need is critical for making the right decision to purchase this software. It is important realize that no software is designed to meet your specific business rules. Be prepared to have some modifications to your system especially if your old system has them built in. A small organization would not necessarily want or need the full version of this software.

We have been using an old version of iMIS (10) which was customized for our association's previous staff. We have found it hard to understand how to use it and get the information we need out of it. All processes are very manual so I would not recommend this version. We are exploring upgrading to 20 which seems to offer a lot more functionality.

Our org has been with iMIS since before I came on board (so probably 8-10+ years). When I got here, we started looking at data, at reports, at the "deep, deep zones of iMIS" and realized we had a problem. Or, several. For years, there were complaints about how horrible iMIS was and we needed to switch it out. After one NiUG Conference (National iMIS Users Group), I realized it was the bad breakup scenario. It wasn't iMIS, it was us. We began cleaning up our data with the help of our awesome service providers, Association Technologies, and started learning more about what iMIS can do if used properly. We educated ourselves and figured out what we really needed and wanted from our AMS. Then, we decided to upgrade to iMIS 20. We're in the middle of that process now, but I know that we're working hard to make sure the software is working for us, not the other way around. Overall, once we learned how to use iMIS correctly and had a plan in place for what we wanted from our AMS, it was awesome. So, my emphasis is on training, training and more training.

We have been long time users of iMIS (11+ years) and we are currently in the process of upgrading to iMIS 20. We wanted a long term solution that could integrate into our accounting systems, had a web solution and provided a stable upgrade path. The iMIS solution has met and exceeded our expectations. Not always perfect but with a large user base (knowledge sharing) and a company committed to adapting to changing technologies with an upgrade path, we have no reservations about our choice to use iMIS. We are looking forward to what the future brings and continue to expand our usage of our AMS to the benefit of our 200,000+ members.

ASI continues to stand fast behind their product line. iMIS 20 is the newest version and once again ASI is stepping up and updating their product to meet today's demanding needs. We not only use iMIS in the back office for all of our database needs but also use all of the web tools. My staff has found the iMIS 20 back office interface easier to use and the web content manager a breeze. The reporting options and functionality are excellent. And all that said, for our Association, the support that ASI offers and the fact that they are constantly listening to their clients' needs and input makes this AMS unique in my mind.

IMIS is a very powerful system. However, we are limited in our utilization of it. We need to upgrade but because of the cusomizations we made, it takes a village to upgrade. Not sure if we 'failed' during implementation or what, but new reports almost always require a 3rd party's assistance which means they cost. We're somewhat small (18 staff) so we outsource IT. By the time we get an outsourced IT person involved and someone from ASI, we're already financially committed and we haven't explained the problem yet. I'm not really sure what we get for our annual fees to ASI. That's the biggest negative about IMIS is that we have to hire someone to ever get anything new or modified. As long as you don't ever change, the system is great.

Using iMIS15 and I could not imagine a day in the life of this office without it. It is the backbone of our organization. We use it for everything -- from a phone call to a year end budget! Our system has been customized several times over for us as we grow and move to a paperless environment. The support we receive is phenomenal as well as all the training given as we expand and add more and more functions to it. The automation available is probably saving us 3 full time staff positions. I love iMIS.

Overall, I think iMIS is a really robust AMS. From a back-end staff use perspective, it can do a lot and allows for most of the flexibility an association needs. When implemented correctly it is a solid package. However, it really could use some assistance in the automation/enforcement of specific to an association's business rules and a better public/member front user interface. It's getting better as it moves to more web-based environment but decade-long users of iMIS will tell you that it's been a long time coming.

iMIS is a fantastic and powerful AMS. We've gone through the versions from 10 to now 20 and each have been an enhancement on the last. Having said that, however, the pitfalls with enhancements can sometimes be that ASI is so eager to get these great new features out that they fall short on the QA side of the product release life-cycle. When issues are identified often times they are fixed right away ...in the next patch. Overall, I believe that if they put more pebbles in the QA bucket they would tip the scales and have a really great product with solid releases.

We are currently using iMIS 15. We have some customization but for the most part, use the basic provided database. I'm sure we do not nearly use the DB to its full potential. Our association is relatively small (4,200), we only do a minimum of membership renewals but are heavy on event registration and I think this system works well for our needs. The look is pretty basic but so is the functionality so I would have to say it is quite user friendly. Navigation between screens is clear and easy as is pulling reports. IQA is the main place I would say extra training is needed but I think it's helpful and necessary to be able to use this functionality. I have used others before and I would say iMIS is overall a good choice for a smaller organization.

Our non-profit organization has been a long time user of Imis and we have been very happy with this product. Over the past years we have migrated to the new Imis 20 and are currently in the process enabling it's web-based features which we feel will be of great value to our membership. The learning curve for the software is short but it's features are super. It is also compatible with other products that allow us to streamline many duties that we had to do separately in the past. Excellent product.
